The Church buildings of the Benefice offer some of the premier wedding venues in the County with Wistow church being particularly sort after. Wistow and Newton Harcourt can seat 100 people , Kilby and Fleckney 140.
It is now much easier to qualify to be married in Church due to recent changes in the law. The parish clergy are very happy to offer advice about this, or information may be obtained from the Church of England website (www.churchofengland.org). It is not the policy in the Benefice to re-marry divorcees if the ex-spouse is still living. However, we gladly offer a wedding blessing service after a civil marriage. This is similar to a traditional wedding service, and many couples find this helpful and moving.
Couples seeking to get married in the Benefice are required to receive a short period of marriage preparation and attend a rehearsal prior to the wedding day. Couples are encouraged to contact the parish clergy as far ahead as possible to book their wedding date. To arrange the callings of the banns of marriage please contact the parish clergy. Fees are payable in respect in the solemnization of holy matrimony – information is available on request.
